Are You Spiritual But Not Religious?
It is safe to say that we live in a very modern world. Technology is booming, people are learning, and experimentation is a way of life. People encounter so much information in any given day, it is impossible for a person’s view not to shift at some point, or even several times. The modern world is a world of adaptation, both mentally and physically, as such people may be spiritual but not religious. As people connect easier and from greater distances, they are learning about different lifestyles all the time. It can be simple things, such as using certain dinnerware traditional in Japan, or it can be a much bigger discovery, such as a new religion. No one can deny that different religions are becoming common knowledge. Societies cannot help but meld when they are so easily connected through technology. We are gaining so many opportunities to live our lives uniquely, or be influenced by inspiration around the world, that it becomes obvious that one religion cannot fit one and every person.
But with so much new information available at any given time, new ideas tend to spring up. Religion is still evident in every country in the world, in some form or other. But individuals are tending to choose a different way of living today, one that is spiritual but not religious. Unlike ancient times, where people set aside days for religious practices, the modern world is much more fast-paced. In busier lives, people do not go to church or pray as often as they once did. And there are some people who find these older practices obsolete in their modern lifestyle. There are people in the world who are just spiritual but not religious. They believe in higher power, but cannot fit a structured religion with all its practices into their way of living.
A person can choose many routes. There are Agnostic people who simply believe in God but not religion. The person may not go to church or know any of the traditional prayers, but they do carry that sense of love that comes with their belief. There are also people who may not even believe in a god, but may have that spiritual sense of a higher power that is putting events in motion. A person knows if they are spiritual but not religious, and however they choose to live their life depends on their unique set of beliefs.
