Dog Collars and Leashes: An Introduction
When you think of accessories for dogs, you probably think of collars or leashes. These are the most basic accessories you can get, yet many of the collars and leashes available today have features that can assist you with tasks that are far from basic. There is a wide variety of leash, collar and electronic collar choices available today, including Casual Canine leather dog leashes and leads.
Most people associate dog collars with protection and identification, but there are actually a lot of variables that come into play. One thing to consider is material; basic buckle collars can come in a variety of them, including nylon and leather, and this may be an important thing to consider if your dog has any allergies, for example. Other kinds of collars include flea collars, stud collars, break-away collars, and the so-called “Elizabethan” collars, the cone-shaped collars which keep dogs from scratching or licking injured or otherwise sensitive areas. Among the more popular products are Guardian Gear choke chain extra heavy dog training collars.
Training collars are the other major category of dog collar. Training collars are used to help with different aspects of the training process. They each have their own ways of helping dogs learn certain types of behaviour. Well-known types of training collars include: prong collars, which have small prongs that will gently pinch the skin around a dog’s neck when tightened; choke collars, which can be tightened as needed by pulling the leash attachment briefly; and electronic collars (also known as e-collars), which can produce vibrations, electric impulses, or other sensations when certain conditions, such as the dog going beyond the designated area, are triggered.
Leashes and leads are also available in different materials; which one is best for your dog can depend on a number of factors. There are also retractable leashes and leads on the market, which can allow greater freedom for the dog while still affording ease of control and the avoidance of tangling issues for the owner. There are many experienced leash manufacturers out there and they make a wide variety of products including Resco Spinners dog show cordo-hyde nylon dog leashes
There’s a lot more to dog collars and leashes than holding tags or keeping your dog close. You might be surprised by the things you can do with a specialty leash or collar, and chances are, you can benefit from some of the features that these accessories have to offer.
